Maunalua Surf Co.

The Name Lives, The Legacy Endures

What’s in a name?

Maunalua, meaning "two mountains," reflects the iconic ridges of Kohelepelepe and Kuamo‘okāne that frame its shores on O‘ahu’s southeastern coast. Once a thriving ahupua‘a, Maunalua was the home to Hawaiʻi’s largest fishpond, known as Keahupuaomaunalua or Kuapā.

Our Mission

Maunalua Surf Co. is committed to preserving the legacy of Maunalua by promoting awareness of its proper place names and celebrating those who continue to protect, cherish, and play in these waters from Kuamo‘okāne (Koko Crater) to Kūpikipikiʻō (Black Point).

A portion of the proceeds from purchases will be donated directly to the organizations that aim to preserve and restore its cultural legacy.

"When we restore traditional place names, we reconnect with the wisdom of the land and its people. Each name is a map of the past, guiding us toward a more rooted and respectful future."
